How to use UnitPulse

From signing up to reading your first report — everything you need in one place.

Getting started

UnitPulse tells you how authentic any job posting is. It works in two places that share one account: a Chrome extension that scores jobs right on LinkedIn, Upwork, and Indeed, and a web app where you manage your account, platforms, billing, and history — and can analyze a job by pasting its link or text.

The fastest path to your first score:

  1. Create a free account (below).
  2. Install the Chrome extension and connect it.
  3. Open any job on a supported site — a score badge appears automatically.
  4. Click the badge, then Verify for the full evidence-backed report.

Create your account

  1. Go to the sign-up page and enter your email and a password.
  2. You land on your dashboard. Every new account starts on the free plan with LinkedIn active.
  3. That’s it — no credit card required to start.

Your free plan includes unlimited instant badges and a monthly allowance of full analyses. You can upgrade anytime from Pricing or the Billing tab.

Install the Chrome extension

  1. Open the UnitPulse listing on the Chrome Web Store and click Add to Chrome. There’s more detail on the extension page.
  2. Confirm the permission prompt. UnitPulse asks for storage and scripting, plus access to the supported job sites.
  3. Pin the extension (click the puzzle icon in Chrome’s toolbar → pin UnitPulse) so its badge is always visible.

Note: the extension reads the job page you’re viewing. When you run an analysis on LinkedIn, it also reads the hiring company’s LinkedIn page, using your own session, and the public version of the job page; on Indeed, it reads the employer’s company page; on Upwork, the About-the-client details. It never opens anyone’s profile, and never reads your messages or connections.

Connect the extension to your account

  1. Click the UnitPulse toolbar icon and choose Sign in.
  2. A tab opens on the web app — sign in (or sign up). The extension picks up your session automatically.
  3. The popup now shows your plan, your active platforms, and your recent analyses.

Your active platforms are set by your plan on the web — the extension mirrors them. Manage them anytime via the Manage platforms button in the popup.

Reading a score

On any supported job page, UnitPulse shows a small badge with a 0–100 score and a color band. This instant preview (we call it Tier-0) is free and unlimited, based on the on-page content.

Click the badge to open the panel, then click Verify company & poster to run the full analysis — this checks the company’s domain and registries, checks the poster named on the job, and looks for the job elsewhere. The full report costs one analysis from your monthly allowance.

  • Green — likely real. Amber — mixed signals, read the evidence. Red — high risk or scam indicators.
  • A confidence grade (A–D) tells you how much evidence was available for the score.

The full report

The report panel in the extension has five tabs:

  • Overview — the headline score, the six sub-scores, and a plain-English verdict with the best way to apply.
  • Evidence — every individual check and what it contributed (domain age, DNS/email setup, careers page, corroboration, and more).
  • Poster — who posted the job, as the job page shows it, and whether their role can actually hire.
  • Elsewhere — other places the same job appears, and the single best route to apply.
  • ATS — your active resume’s matched and missing keywords for the job. It never uses a credit.

Understanding the scores

The headline Job Organic Score is a weighted blend of six sub-scores, each 0–100:

  • Company Trust — is the employer a real, established organization?
  • Poster Trust — is the person posting real, and can they hire?
  • Job Authenticity — is the role itself specific and credible?
  • Cross-Platform Consistency — do the details line up across sources?
  • Hiring Likelihood — is this company actually hiring right now?
  • Scam Risk — how many scam patterns are present (higher = worse).

A high Scam Risk caps the overall band at red no matter how the other scores look — one strong danger signal outweighs a polished listing.

Scam detection

UnitPulse flags the patterns real scams share, for example:

  • Upfront fees, “training kits,” or requests for payment to start.
  • Payment via crypto or gift cards, or asking for SSN/bank details before hiring.
  • Interviews that happen only on chat apps (Telegram/WhatsApp).
  • Too-good-to-be-true pay for little or no experience.

Each flag is shown with the exact text that triggered it — evidence and likelihood, never accusations.

Platforms & slots

Your plan includes a set number of platform slots (LinkedIn, Upwork, Indeed, and more). Toggle a platform on from the Platforms tab and it lights up in your extension; toggle it off to swap in another.

  • Need more than your plan includes? Upgrade to a bigger plan — Professional has up to 6 (live and beta), and Enterprise includes every supported platform.
  • A platform you’ve analyzed a job on stays active until your next renewal (so limits can’t be gamed by rotating). Unused platforms swap freely.

Uploaded resumes & ATS match

Upload your resumes under Resumes (PDF or DOCX, up to 5 MB) and mark one as ACTIVE. UnitPulse measures every job’s ATS match against your active resume — deterministic keyword and skill coverage, similar to what applicant-tracking systems screen for, with no AI and no guesswork.

  • Each job report shows an ATS match %, the skills you match, and what’s missing from your resume.
  • The ATS checker scores any pasted job against one of your uploaded resumes — it’s free and never spends an analysis credit.
  • Only one resume is active at a time; switch anytime and your match updates instantly.
  • Every plan, including Free, can upload up to 5 resumes. UnitPulse only reads them to compute the match; it doesn’t edit them.

Billing & plans

Manage your plan from the Billing tab or the Pricing page. Toggle monthly or annual (annual saves 15%). Your analysis allowance is pooled across the extension and web app and resets each billing period.

  • Free — 1 platform, 10 analyses/month.
  • Basic / Professional — more platforms and analyses, single member.
  • Enterprise — every supported platform, pooled analyses, and seats sized to your team.

Using the web app

No extension handy? Open Analyze a job in the web app and paste a job URL or the full text. UnitPulse parses it server-side and returns the same evidence-backed report. Your entire history lives under Scanned jobs.

Some sites (like LinkedIn) are best analyzed with the extension, since they require you to be signed in to view a posting.

Use UnitPulse in Claude

Add UnitPulse to Claude as a connector and ask Claude to score a job, go through your reports, check your CV match or pull up the facts about a job and its client, all from a chat. The Claude connector guide covers setup, permissions, example prompts and your data.

Privacy & data

UnitPulse reads the job page you’re viewing and, when you run an analysis, the hiring company’s page behind it. We never read your messages, connections or other people’s profiles, we never sell your data, and the extension never runs on its own or acts on your accounts. See the full Privacy Policy for details.

FAQ & troubleshooting

The badge isn’t showing on a job page.

  • Make sure the platform is active on your plan (check the popup).
  • Refresh the page — the badge mounts when the job loads.
  • Confirm the extension is pinned and you’re signed in.

My analysis count looks off.

Your allowance is shared between the extension and web app and resets each billing period. Cached re-checks of the same job don’t cost an extra analysis.
